[As part of a weekend on the topic of police violence, Outrage Collectif is pleased to welcome Cases Rebelles collective who will present their movie and then share a moment of exchange with the public. Subtitles French/English TELLING LAMINE is a feature-length documentary produced by the collective Cases Rebelles, with the support of the collective Vies Volées (a collective of families of police brutality victims). The filming started in 2016, a few weeks before the 9th anniversary of Lamine Dieng’s death, strangled by police officers in Paris on June 17, 2007. However, TELLING LAMINE is not a movie about police violence. It is a movie about Lamine, about 10 years of absence, 10 years of stolen life. How do we cope with injustice? With the double injury of crime and absence of trial? How do we keep on existing, fighting and resisting? What is left to do when faced with the impossibility of achieving justice? Through interviews and archives, members of the family and people in support recount; a succession of memories, political meditation, attempts to put matters into perspective and historical analyses follow. But it is also about speaking to Lamine. This is the heart of the film. Why? To ward off the curse of this death in absolute solitude. Because those of us who are alive, we carry the duty to obtain reparations, to create meaning and political strength from this unacceptable death. The film also tells the brave fight of black women, sisters and close friends in a quest of non-negotiable truth and justice. Lamine was a young black man, living a popular neighborhood of the 20th district in Paris. He was killed by the police and his tragedy is, unfortunately, not an isolated case. Lamine was also a young man full of life, who had friends, a family, dreams, a laughter. And the film, between messages of love and renewed promises to fight, refuses to forget all this. *** After the discussion we invite you to continue with the exchange in a more informal setup at the Théatre du loup for the support party for the Antiracist Footbal Tournament ( Tournoi Antiraciste) And the night before --> Présentation-Discussion : Assata Shakur - une autobiographie
